Hello! My name is Jennifer Lipa. I am in my twelfth year of school counseling at Brown City Elementary. Previously, I taught in sixth grade, second grade and third grade at BCES. I was raised in Brown City and graduated from the high school, so it is a unique experience being back as an educator/counselor. I enjoy working with an enthusiastic, genuine, and supportive staff. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Grand Valley State University. I attended Central Michigan University where I received a Masters in Arts.
I am blessed with two wonderful children, Jameson and Eva. We enjoy exploring the world we live in by traveling as much as possible, going for walks, bike rides, visiting the family cabin in the Upper Peninsula, partaking in ORV riding, and snowmobiling. Jason and I savor spending time with family and traveling. I also am an avid reader, like to garden, photograph nature, run, listen to music, and spend time with family and friends.

Hi!! I’m Liz Makedonsky, or as the students often call me Mrs. Mak, and I am the counselor at Brown City Jr.-Sr. High School! For the past several years I have served as primarily a high school counselor, though I do have some experience with 7th & 8th grade students. My focus is to see each student as an individual and to meet them where they are at - academically, socially, and overall developmentally. Developing connections with students and learning about their interests is one of my goals as a school counselor.
I am THRILLED to be "back home" at BCHS! I moved to Brown City in the middle of my sophomore year and I graduated from BCHS in 2000. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical & Community Psychology in 2006 and my Master of Science degree in School Counseling in 2014. I am a member of the American School Counselor Association and have endorsements in Trauma & Crisis Management, Anxiety & Stress Management, and I am working on my endorsements in Mental Health Counseling and Closing the Achievement Gap.
My husband and I have three pretty amazing children - Lily, Jordyn, and Logan - who are all involved in sports and raising animals to show at the fair each year. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and being crafty when the mood strikes me. In my free time, I also work as an associate photographer for a photography company that specializes in sports photography.
